6 Months Old!!!!!

I can't believe that my babies are 6 months old!!! I am so proud of how far they have come over the past six months.

It turns my stomach to think about where we were only six months ago. The day your babies are born is supposed to be a day filled with joy and celebration. For me, the day my babies were born was the scariest day of my life. I had no idea what it meant for a baby to be born at barely 27 weeks until I saw them for the first time. I remember smiling from ear to ear and being so excited as Ben wheeled me to the NICU to meet my trio. When I stood up to look in the incubator and I got the first glimpse of one of my babies it felt like being hit in the chest with a sledge hammer. Nothing can prepare you for seeing a 2lb human being. There were tubes, wires and monitors covering up every inch of their tiny bodies. I quickly went from all smiles to a sobbing mess. As Ben and I went down the line, meeting each baby and listening to a team of doctors and nurses explain their critical conditions, I remember thinking to myself......this is not good. As Ben was wheeling me out of the NICU a lady stopped us and knelt down in front of me and said "Sweetheart, these babies have a long hard road in front of them and you have to pick yourself up and be strong because your the only mama they have." Not only was it the first time someone had called me "Mama" but it was when I realized that my journey into parenthood would be different than most. The next few months were filled with ups and downs that tested me in ways I never knew were possible. Reece, Lousie and Charlie fought everyday to get to where they are now. Slowly the tubes, wires and monitors began to come off and there emerged these perfect little miracles. Watching them fight their individual battles and overcoming obstacle after obstacle has been a humbling experience. In a short 6 months, my children have taught me more lessons on faith, strength and love than I knew was possible to learn in a lifetime. I am so lucky to be able to spend everyday with these 3 awesome babies!!!

We may have not been much in he mood to celebrate on the day that they were born, but because of that, we celebrate every milestone a little bit more. So, that being said...........Happy Half Birthday Reece, Louise and Charlie!!!!!!!! Rosalyn Reece Boland
