13 Weeks

Happy 2nd trimester to me!!! I have heard that this is the "Honeymoon stage" of pregnancy. Sounds good to me. I feel so lucky that I made it through my 1st trimester feeling great and staying healthy.

How far along? 13 weeks

How big are babies? the size of a peach

Weight gain? 8lbs total

Strechmarks? nope

Maternity Clothes? I have decided I don't "get" maternity clothes. I look absolutely ridiculous when I try to wear them, but all my normal clothes are uncomfortable. At the insane rate I am growing, I'm sure that anything I buy now (that fits) won't fit for long. Thank god for dresses and leggings.

Sleep? The sleep is good and I have not been as tired.

Best moment of the week? Watching my Mom get to see the babies for the first time. Oh, and getting that yucky sugery over with.

Food cravings? Milkshakes and cereal.

Gender? its all I think about all day everyday.

Movement? not yet.

What I miss? not having to be the DD all the time

What I'm looking forward to? Working on my nursery and registery (Any of you mamas out there, What were some of your "must haves"?). Also, the end of this awful allergy season, Atchu!!

Milestone? 2nd trimester!!!

Here are some pics..

About Time for Dad to Blog!

Well, I guess I've been trying to figure out what my role in this adventure exactly is, and I think that I'm starting to understand:

1. Keep Lucy's stress level at a minimum (she could blow any moment, the hormones are wild!)
2. Do whatever Lucy asks me to do, in order to keep her stress level down (See 1.)
3. Keep Lucy's hunger cravings at bay (see portion in parentheses in item 1.)
4. Get everything that requires physical labor done around the house, so that Lucy can grow 3 babies without worrying about overdoing it!

Sounds about right. This weekend we started on the house project. We are going to try and make it in our house as long as possible, so we have decided to add a bedroom and bathroom downstairs, and finish our unfinished basement. The bathroom is where we decided to start. As you can see in the pictures, my dad, Lucy's dad, Jake, Philip, Sean, and myself commenced to busting out concrete, and running new plumbing for the new shower Saturday. Although Sean left before the picture takin', it should be noted that he did most of the work. It went pretty well, and we're hoping to have the bathroom wall framed this weekend (assuming I get the concrete poured back this week). The plan is for the downstairs to become a slave quarters...excuse me I meant to say a place for our moms, family, and friends to stay when they come to help us out!

P.S. - I feel I should mention that the babies attended their first Boland reunion today, and had some great food....Thanks to the fam for the well wishes!
-Ben

Cerclage

Well, I had my cerclage put in on Friday. All went well and I'm feeling good. I will spare you the details of having your cervix stitched shut while completely awake and aware, but I will say I am losing any bit of modesty I had before this pregnancy.

The worst part about the surgery was the IV. I have never been good with needles and according to the nurse I have "tiny little veins". After a couple tries they got one in, which was a good thing because if they poked me anymore I was plotting my escape.

They best part about the surgery was that I got to see my babies twice in one day. They checked them before I went into the operating room and after I came out. They did great! They are growing and looking more proportional (Although it still looks like the have a bit of daddy's big head).

Dr. Pereyo said everything went well, but they could not get the cerclage as high on my cervix as they wanted. Still should do the job of keeping in the little ones!

Thanks for the prayers, texts and well wishes. It really helps me to know that I have so many awesome people behind me.

12 Weeks

How far along? 12 weeks

How big are babies? the size of a plum. One of mama's faves!!!!

Weight gain? hopefully up a pound or two from last week. My doctors keep stressing how important it is to gain weight early during triplet pregnancy. I had a goal of 10 lbs in my first trimester...I may fall a little short (but it wont be long till I hit the big 1 0)

Strech marks? not yet

Maternity Clothes? its getting close. I wear the bella band with some pants. My "fat" jeans still fit. I'm having a hard time finding cute maternity clothes on a budget. Anybody have any suggestions?

Sleep? ok....not great. I have started having nightmares about the babies (i really hope this ends soon)

Best moment of the week? Big Daddys Burgers in Charlotte with Laney and Philip. I got the "traditional southern burger" and Ben got a wimpy salad......boy, things are changing around here.

Food Cravings? I still dont like most meat. I can eat it if mixed in with other stuff (except chicken......eww). I LOVE fruit!!!!!

Gender? I cant wait to find out. Its killing me. I want to start shopping for them (if Ben will let me)

Movement? nope...I used to be really excited to feel them move around. Now, I'm kinda worried that three babies moving around in my belly will be kinda nauseating.

What I miss? Having a drink with friends

Belly Button? innie...but it getting streched

What I am looking forward to? getting this little procedure over with

Milestone? last week in my first trimester.

****pictures to come soon.... I promise.

Pre op

Just another day at the doctors office.

I had my pre-op today for the cerclage that they are putting in Friday morning. Basically, they are stiching my cervix shut...........glamorous, huh?
Dr. Pereyo will be doing the procedure and he definately help to calm my nerves today. This will be my first ever surgery. The biggest medical procdure I have ever had was getting my wisdon teeth out. That was just this year and I acted like a huge baby. Crying from the second I walked in the door. Thank goodness, the nurses let Ben come back with me until they put me to sleep. I am pregnant with three babies....So my goal for this procedure: suck it up and act like a big girl!

Maternal Fetal Medicine

We had our appointment with Maternal Fetal Medicine on Tuesday. The babies are growing so fast.

Baby A had a heartrate of 162 and was measureing 11 weeks 2 days. He/She is the smallest out of the bunch, but sure was active. Small and hyper sounds like this one might be taking after his/her mama.

Baby B had a heatrate of 168 and was measuring 11 weeks 4 days. This baby was more mello like his/her daddy

Baby C had a heartrate of 164 and was measureing 11 weeks 3 days. We are calling this one our pretty baby because he/she is in the pefect profile postion in the ultrasound photos.

All of the babies are are in their own sac and have their own placenta. This is very very rare with triplets. Matter of fact, 1 of my doctors has never even seen it before. We feel so lucky, because this is great news for the health and growth of the babies. They also did a screening test for Downs Syndrome and Trisomy 13 and 18.

We meet with Dr. Scardo and Dr. Laye. They are perenatoligist, which is a OB for high risk pregnancys. They were both awsome and we feel really lucky to have on our side. The sacariest thing we heard was that I could go on bed rest as early as 18 weeks. yikes! Other than that, all seems to be going well. I will start going to see them weekly starting at week 15 or 16 to check my cervical length to see if I'm going into preterm labor (that makes me really nervous).

Next stop on Lucy's triplet pregnancy adventure....Monday, back to the Womens Clinic for my pre-op.

11 weeks

I saw this weekly questionnaire on another baby blog and thought it would make a good addition to our blog. I'll start adding a picture with it as soon as I find my camera battery charger.

How far along? 11 weeks last Saturday
How big is baby? the size of a lime (make that three limes). Makes me want a margarita, yummy
Weight gain? 6lbs total
Stretch marks? not yet. Ben lathers me up nightly
Maternity clothes? the few pairs of pants that still fit are getting quite uncomfortable. I will start using the bella band here pretty soon. I'm at a funny in between stage.
Sleep? its all I want to do.
Best moment of the week? seeing my babies jump around on the ultrasound screen. I could watch them all day if they would let me.
Food Cravings? more like food aversions. Most meat grosses me out, especially chicken. I have been digging hard tacos, cereal, fruit very cold (i stick it in the freezer for a few minutes), and bean burritos from taco bell
Gender? not sure yet. I did dream it was two boys and a girl this week.
Movement? sometimes I think I feel something and it turns out to be gas............super disappointing.
What I miss? wine and not worrying about everything I do and if it could somehow negatively impact the babies.
Belly button? innie
What I'm looking forward to? going to Charlotte this weekend to do some maternity/baby shopping with Laney!
Milestone? first appointment with maternal fetal medicine.

Uh Oh

Well, yesterday we had a little scare.

I was carrying Mae down the steps and took a little tumble. Mae was ok, I think I cushioned her fall. My fall was not terribly bad it just gave me a good scare. I called the doctors office and they told me to come on in. Ben met me at the doctor office and we waited forever to be called back. We saw Dr. Benson and she did a doppler scan to check for heartbeats. She found 2 heartbeats and said that was completely normal, one of the babies could be hiding behind one of the others. Still....I would have like to hear 3 heartbeats. I have had no bleeding which is another good sign. I will rest much easier after my doctors apt Tuesday. Tuesday I have my first appointment with Maternal Fetal medicine (the high risk clinic). I am interested to see what they have to say.

Lesson Learned:

Crying 2 yr olds, steps, and clumsy pregnant women don't mix. I will be much more careful and take the time to hold Mae and Evans hands when they come down the steps.

Ultrasound #3

They look like babies!!!!! Well, kinda.

I did my first ultrasound at the Women's Clinic and met with Dr Pereyo on Thursday of last week (4-1). It went well. The girl who did my ultrasound, Christa, was super nice. This ultrasound was much different than the past two. The babies were so much bigger and they looked like babies rather than seahorses! Baby B and Baby C were super active. Its was so funny to see them move. As soon as one would start moving around I would start laughing which made the ultrasound screen jump around making it hard to see.

Ben was at work so he wasn't there for the ultrasound. We are really trying to save all his vacation, sick, and personal days for when the babies come. I did have a little bit of time between the ultrasound and meeting with the doctor so Ben and I met for lunch at Monterrey's (these babies are loving some dirty Mexican). I showed him the pictures and we came up with a list of 1000 questions for me to ask when I meet with the doctor.

The visit with Dr. Pereyo went well. He said my uterus was measuring 18 weeks (8 weeks ahead of where I am). He answered all my questions and was very helpful. We set up my pre op visit for my cerclage (stitching my cervix closed......icky). I really enjoyed my visit to the Women's Clinic everybody was so nice and I look forward to meeting all the other doctors and nurses (I have a feeling I will be spending alot of time there).
